Tom played in a variety of bands as a teenager moving between playing guitar as well as keyboards and samplers. At Middlesex University he studied music, specializing in composition. During this time Tom further developed his fledgling studio skills. In his Graduation year Tom formed a band with his brother called ‘Serial POP’, which rose swiftly to release a couple of EP’s and an album with various indie labels. During the twilight years of the band Tom started as a trainee assistant at Fortress Studios in London, going on eventually to become house engineer.
In 2005 a series of sliding doors led Tom to take up a Pro-Tools role on an album Produced by Garrett ‘Jacknife’ Lee. The relationship was productive from the start and a month later Garrett invited Tom to Engineer Snow Patrols ‘Eyes Open’ album. Since then Tom has continued to work with Garrett on Bloc Party, Editors, R.E.M., Weezer, Regina Spektor, Biffy Clyro and AFI whilst also striking out on Productions of his own including Stars, Black Soul Strangers and Kill Kenada.
2010 had the highly anticipated release of the new Stars album The Five Ghosts – Tom's second outing as Producer for them. He also recently mixed the debut album from agit rockers Dead Kids, and a further album for Davey Macmanus/The Crimea. Tom has also spent much of the summer bouncing around Europe recording REM and is currently developing several new artists.
